So I had the day off from being super-nanny, so I got to dye 2.5 pounds of fiber in my tiny kitchen. Still have around 3 left to go!
I also went a little brighter, hair-color wise My cat. I'm obsessed. He's just so cute and fun. Sorry...
haha! Somehow he managed to stuff himself in that little bitty box. Okay, back to the crafty-ness..."Nature is Ancient":
Glo-bug #2 is lighter and loftier than the previous one...
And something I'm working on in the midst of the dyeing. I have around 3 more pounds to go. I'm a little obsessed with the delicious squish of Merino lately.
I have me work cut out for me:
I just got 2 pounds of merino today and my cat attacked the box. Maybe the sheep-y smell:
Results of my fiber swap with Melissa! She's rad.
And a new yarn goodness, "Nature is Ancient" on the bobbin (currently a 2 ply and drying). I need a jumbo bobbin prontoooo...
And now I will go watch my secret guilty pleasure, So You Think You Can Dance. Shhh...don't tell anyone.
School is OUT for my husband and it's very exciting. Grad school. blech. This weekend we went to the Farmer's Market and scoped out the fruits and veggies. I hung out with the Spincycle Yarn gals Kate and Rachel for a bit (if you've never checked out their yarn you must! I might try to make it to knit night this week if I'm not too exhausted from being super-nanny this week. I'm taking on 5, yes 5, kids for the summer. Including a 9 month old.
Got a new batch of Jaqcuard dyes and thought I'd dye it up this weekend. It was pouring down rain, as it usually does, here in the Pacific NW, so I thought I could use some day-glo colored roving to brighten my dour mood.
My cool new scale...
And a new yarn finished today. "Marie Antoinette." Pastel Parisian candy and silk stockings.
Wheel woes. Still. But I got that custom order done. Yay! And she really really liked it...
And last week when I was wheel-less and mosaic obsessed I still had to spin something. And my drop spindle saved my life...
"...For Crazy Making!" Is handspun on the good 'ole spindle with mohair, tinsel, New Zealand romney, merino, silk, uncarded wool bits, the kitchen sink...
Oh, and I got my 15 minutes of mosaic fame:
I'm a hot new project. Or, I was for the evening.
So I'm gonna wait a week before grouting and sealing this crazy thing. Yeah...I don't think my wall will be able to hold it. Sort of disappointing, but I'll figure something out.
Ahhh...it was fun, but I'm really excited that I'll be able to concentrate on spinning again without this unfinished mosaic hanging over my head and taking up too much room in my workspace. In other news my freaking wheel isn't going to be shipped to the US until the middle of July! (grrrr!) so the lady at my local fiber shop insisted that I take my old wheel home so I can have something to spin on while I wait. If I get a different color, the wheel I want might be here sooner, so I guess I'll switch colors. In the mean time, I've got all this to dye and spin up!!!...
And now I leave you with cuteness:
Wow, I can't believe how long it takes to ship freaking spinning wheel! Still waiting on my new wheel and I can't wait to start spinning my new shipment of fiber from Sheep Shed. Those guys rock the wool world.
My mosiac. Still cutting and covered in glue and glass shards.
Glass splinters suck.
Still planning my projects for the Rebel Rabbit fair. Holly and Sonya are gonna come with me to "man the table." Should be fun times.
