So I bought all this yarn specifically to make the Buttoney Sweater
...but then I realized that even the girl who created the pattern thought that it was too big, and I'm not a savvy enough knitter (or mathematician) to know how to do my own waist shaping, etc. So then I found this:
and thought that it would look cute with the yarn that I bought. I like wraps/cardigans with some sort of stick or something holding the front closed. But then I was looking at Buttoney again, and it's so freaking cute. And I found this tutorial that helps you figure out how to make a top down raglan based on your specific measurements. So now I'm back to the Buttoney. Indecision.
In other news I got done with the big custom order of Glo-bug (only chunky style) for someone on Etsy
And I listed the Heart Halo scarf (with hand-embroidered heart halo patch!) on Etsy today. The scarf is knit from my Heartbreaker blue-faced leicester and mohair handspun, and the red mohair makes this cool firey halo coming from the scarf. It's knit in a 2x2 rib which makes it light and airy...just the way mohair should be.
Fun times.
This weekend we are going whale watching and I am cra-za-zy excited!
Project!
10 skeins of Prairie Silk for $30!!! Yay!
Yarn for Etsy shop!
Yarn for the slow transition to pale, cooler months.
Progress!
Still pluggin away at the Lillian Tank.
Job!...equals no go.
Hello, hallooo...back from the fiber art fest and I JUST posted some new yarn in my shop. So go there or be square. You know, fall is knocking on the door and that means it's time to KNIT and do all kinds of fibery things. Here's some not so flattering pics from the fiber art fair. It was tiny. And hot. And not too exciting (small local art gallery..what can you say?). I spun so much my shoulders started hurting.
But I did sell Antique Rustic to a young man who just started weaving and was beguiled by the elegant beauty of Antique Rustic. But who isn't?
I did have a prime spot by the window, so I felt a bit like a spinning monkey in a hot box or something. People would stop and watch from outside the window. I should have put down a tip box.
And then I had a looong 5 hr. car ride home the next day. I wish we could have stayed a little longer but I start a new J-o-b tomorrow. So my friend Eryn has forced me, twisted my arm, threatened me really, if I don't do this blog thing. :) So here it tis:
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/stories about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog
8 RANDOM FACTS:
*1: I love flat faced animal. The flatter the face the better. I want them snorting and not being able to breathe. They are the cutest that way.
*2: My husband and I got engaged after dating for only 1 month and got married 5 months later. After 3 years he is still the most amazing, kind, wonderful man I have ever met. And he doesn't take any of my crap, which I need. But not in a weird way.
*3: I'm slightly obsessed with fiber (ummm...but you already knew that if you read my blog with any regularity). I like to just have many many types of fiber and feel it and spin it and knit it and stare at it. Oh and dye it too.
*4: I have lost 55 pounds over the past year just by cutting out sugar and getting off my lazy butt to become a trail runner. Unfortunately all of my hobbies/projects contribute to "lazy butt-itess" so I'm glad running is a relatively cheap and fun hobby as well.
*5: I regularly run in a forest-y park where earlier this year my husband and I saw a ghost. Well, I saw her. She was a little woman wearing black sweatpants. She was following us and it was dark and really creepy and then she just dissapeared. Becuase he was creeped out by my supernatural sighting, my husband screamed when we heard a loud noise (screechy bike brakes that sounded like a screaming banshee), and then I peed my pants becuase I was laughing so hard. She is now affectionately referred to as "The Sweatpant Witch of Whatcom Falls."
*6: I hate blog games. What the hell is a "MEM?"
*7: I like Bright Eyes. But sometimes feel cheesy when listening to him.
*8: That's enough.
I'm tagging no one. It ends here. :)
Fun times this weekend folks...for one, I got a job that actually has me working 25-30 hrs. a week! yay! We're still poor college kids, but at least now we can afford not to use our credit card for more than a week at a time. Well, maybe. Here's our weekend summed up in some pics (click on the thumbnail for the bigger version, if you are so inclined)...
Our fabulous, and engaged, friends Chris and Katie came up to the Ham and stayed with us for the weekend and it was fun times had by all. And it didn't even rain! So we took them to Deception Pass and we walked on the scary bridge. The boys smoked their fancies, and today we ate at the Old Town Cafe...the coolest little place to eat evah! Then, as you can see below on the bobbin, I finished up a custom order (well, the sample for the custom order) for one of my customers who wants me to spin up a heck of alot of yarn for some cool projects she's working on. It turned out exactly how I wanted it so, yay!...then, I started working on the Lillian Tank Top (the purple yarn below), and had to start over literally 4 times on it cause I am a dork when it comes to lace patterns, and then the fancy red scarf is the "Heartbreaker" mohair and BFL yarn that I handspun. I couldn't resist knitting it so I'm gonna sell the scarf in my shop when I'm done. Last 2 pics...yarn ready for the fiber art fest coming up in 7 short day, and me...I just woke up.
Busy, busy, busy...getting ready for a fiber art fest that happens in a little over a week. And, I'm not having much luck getting very many hrs. at work, so that gives me lots of prep time. I'm actually starting a new job soon so we'll see how that goes. I can't wait till I can just make and sell yarn full time.
I got this really nice e-mail from a person who bought my yarn today. It really made my day actually...
Dear Beth,
I wanted you to know that your Glo Bug yarn is one of the most beautiful yarns I have ever seen. I am starting to knit up a scarf, and only wish I had more so I could make something larger. I would love to buy more if you can ever duplicate those colors. Thank you so much.
With great appreciation,
Patty Frerichs
So here it is. The pain in the a** yarn, but it turned out elegant and lovely...blend of Ram, mohair, bamboo, merino, silk, angora, a little baby camel, Romney, local wool, plied alternating sparkly cream ribbon and thread.
And I finished "Gyspy Glam"...and it weighs a half pound! I wanna keep it for myself, but I'm gonna be selling at the fiber arts marketplace at the 6th Street Gallery at the end of this month, so I think I'll take this along.
